The technical explanation is that TEncoder is a GUI (graphical user interface) for FFMPeg, MEncoder and MPlayer. The simple explanation is that TEncoder is a free and open source tool that can be used to convert video and audio files from one format to another. Multiple formats are supported for the input and for the output. Converting media with TEncoder is a very straightforward matter.

TEncoder will work just fine on any Windows-powered machine. To get the application up and running you must perform a simple installation: download an installer, run it, follow the setup wizard’s instructions. Not only is the installation process simple, it is something that will take very little of your time.

There are several things that must be said about the interface: you will quickly figure things out, it is quite easy to use, it provides support for skins. You can access multiple skins and use them to change the way the interface looks from the Settings menu, the Skin tab. Please note that by default, skinning is disabled.

As mentioned above, TEncoder is a GUI for FFMpeg, MEncoder and MPlayer. There are several things that must be said about the application’s functionality: it can be used to convert videos and audio files; multiple formats are supported for the output; there are lots of built-in profiles; multiple processes can run simultaneously; videos can be previewed and trimmed; filters are available; you can play with the codec options, and more.

Since TEncoder is free and open source, you have all the time in the world to uncover all the functionality it has to offer. If you like TEncoder and you want to support its development, consider making a donation.

Go get TEncoder and enjoy a free and open-source application that does a proper job of converting media files.
